17748 dyno max
CPS mod
IAT relocated
Moble 1 in the engine
Amsoil in the rear (3.55's LSD)

My average around town mileage is 16 mpg
My highway mileage 20.3 mpg (Loaded w/ camping gear & wife & kid)
I have the HS RR's on my work bench, that's next on the list.
I'm gonna tune-up again when I install my HS RR's

I believe I ask this once before, but here goes again. My thought is with the 48mm TB, headers, roller rockers and all that. If you don't do the intake your still holding back some air/fuel mixture. Still a bottle neck in the intake. But even with the intake done, you can gain some more with an electric fan. Just my Hillbilly thoughts.

The stock tire size on my'00 was 255/65/R15 Goodyear Eagle LS they sucked and only got 22k out of them.
The 275/60/R15's are BFG's radial T/A's nice and holding up to the miles.

how about proper tire inflation and alignment? also, could be your driving habits. if you're really hooked on improving mileage, install a vacuumm gage on the A-pillar or in dash and operate the go pedal while trying to maintain the highest vacuumm reading possible. i guarantee your mileage will go up some.

3.55 gears
215/75R15 tires at 36psi

Yes the bottle neck in the intake flage is bad
news

injector sync also plays a part

I will list my mods from the top 1995 4x4

Ram air K&N 14x3 with K&N exstream top
48mm F&B
1.7 H&S rockers 6.935 mopar push rods stock 6.905
devider removed stock runner length
flange ports gasket matched
heads cleaned of casting leavings and polished
JBA headers pacetter dual carsound high flow
MSD 6a 6200 8207 coil MSD 8.5 wires halo 15 plugs
All amsoil fluids except engine royal purple
TPS at .75
relocated IAT 6" from body
4 degree crank sensor advance
jet stage 2 chip
elect fan
19 fms injectors
injector sync +3 +4
Also have a sep o2 running a air/fuel anolog guage
14.5 14.7 crusing this needs to be right
running at 183 185 degrees fan on 188 off 185
TCI shift kit line presure at 75psi
light throttle shifts
1-2 18mph
2-3 32mph
3o/d 40mph
lockup 50mph

My pvi injector ran out and can not get ahold of
mike golka in canada to get a new one this adds
another 1mpg without still hit 25.47 89 oct fuel

keeping the motor just into the start of the power
band 1800 to 2200rpm shifting lower your actualy
boging the motor and sucking more gas to get the
power to move the truck

If your plugs are not running a nice tan and all
almost identical you have problems that need to
be solved or you will never get good mileage

All the V6 daks should be getting 20 plus high way
or there not right

I should add this

My 94 sport 2 wheel with my stroker motor 4.10
gears pushing a 518 trans and a very fat A/F ratio
gets 19 20mpg high way

309/322 rear wheel 13.3 1/4 mile all day long I
did get my all time best of 13.2 once

To bad ASE chips went out of the US they made
some excellent chips for these comps

try 17 hwy. She's old but not done for. Motors still real clean, doesn't use oil. Ran like s top until a couple of weeks ago when I started reading posts on here- Just teasing. I just got started, now my son who I am fixing it for wants a Z71, I told him I would stick some letters and numbers on my 26 year old craftsman lawn mower and no one would know the difference. Then I asked him which Dodge it was a nd he just grinned, so now I will have to show him the best truck on the road. Got lots of work to do so I hope you guys like me. Soon as I join I'll add pictures, if you promise not to laugh. Toby WD40

Toby, don't worry about having an ugly truck. Mine has some large dings on the passenger side and one of those infamous factory paint jobs that fell off. I just make lots of right turns and as far as my paint job, or lack thereof... piss on whoever laughs, because even though my truck's no beauty queen, she runs like a tiger and she's PAID FOR! HAHA!

I don't get half bad MPG. 97 with 116k on it. Get roughly 22ish average. 19 city, 26 hwy. One of the gas savers is that I don't have 4 wheel drive.

If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.

I have a 1993 2wheel drive club cab, 3.9 liter v6 with alot of mods including recent valve job which included porting the heads, camshaft change (hotter than stock), 1.6 roller rockers, v8 tb, ported intake manifold, summit cd ignition, taylor wires, stock coil, split fire plugs, cps sensor mod, fuel sync set to about +3, amsoil synthetics in engine, differential and manual transmission, custom red-neck bed cover, mopar performance pcm, 180 degree thermostat. With the crusie control set at 63 mph I get 26.5 mpg, around town mpg 18 to 20. All this on fairly flat ground it different in hills and mountains.

one big thing you did was make it flow better

the more effecient the motor the more power it
puts out means it has to work less to get the
same speed

Less work less fuel

All these little mods do help and when there all
done it comes togather with a lot better power
performance and gas mileage

Mine is a 92 3.9v6 4wd after all the problems i've had I got 23 mpg last week. Most was at 70+ on the highway. I have never got that before. It was nice to learn from others and get a real return on it. The mtr has 256,000+ on it and still wont rev above 3,600 without cutting out. I think it's the dist sync out of wack. If I hadnt tried to cut my left ring finger and little finger off yesterday with the lawnmower blade I would have put the dist in sync.
Larry, you talked about having a +3 +4 sync advance. How did you do this advance. My camshaft sensor in the dist has the #1 cyl mark but nothing else. Did you use a volt meter? what was the voltage? I could use a good crash course in dist sync and advance procedure. The v8 performance web site mentioned in a different thread gives GREAT info but leaves me hanging on the mechanics of how it works.
I know the dist sensor works on the halo effect. I know when the dist rotates the brass 1/2 moon in the dist passes between the magnet and p/u part of the densor telling the computer where the camshaft is, telling the injectors to fire. But where on this ring does the injectors fire?
My thinking would be if the precise point of injector firing is known, that point would allow the valves and piston to purge the cyl completely of exhaust gasses and create a better A/F ratio. Am I right? If i'm not please correct me. Constructive correction does not bother me.

Thanks.. Trevor in SW MO..

the MPH that gives him the best MPG's
may be diff. from what your truck would/will give you

all depends on gear ratio and tire size/height

the dist pickup only tells them when to fire
not how much

how much is determined bt the comp from signals
air temp
engine temp
throttle position
load (map sensor)
o2 sensor

yes you can read it .5 volts when rotating dist
past sensor

line rotor button with line 0 counter clockwise
plus clockwise minus
