Subject: Passenger Door sensor on Sport Quad Cab
IP: Logged

Message:
I've got a 2001 Dakota Sport Quadcab 4x4. Lately, the door ajar sensor on the front passenger door has been malfunctioning. It started a few weeks ago; whenever I turned right into a parking lot it would Bing! and turn on the inside light for a second -- like if the door was opened. Now, it's gotten worse and it's to the point where much of the time the sensor reads that door as being open, which results in the "Door Ajar" light coming on and the inside light staying on. I have to open and slam that door multiple times to get it to shut off.

I can't find the standard plunger type switch anywhere in the door. Any help in disabling the sensor, finding the sensor, or any other work around for this would be much appreciated. I don't want to bring it into a dealer for a 10 minute, $500 repair! Any help appreciated!
