Subject: V8 TB Error Code
IP: Logged

Message:
I have installed a V8 TB onto my 2000 3.9 V6 to compliment my
other modifications. I reset the PCM when I installed it and
drove for about 60 miles before the check engine light came on.
I checked the codes and it was 0455, a large leak in the
evaporator system. I was almost out of gas so I refilled the tank
and reset the PCM thinking that may have been the cause. Light
came back on around 160 miles this time. Took it to the dealer
and the smoke tested it and said it was just a loose gas cap, I
knew this was not true because I always tighten it to click. Light
is back on now for a third time at 220 miles.

Sorry for the long winded post but this has been annoying and I
am about to switch back to my V6 TB.

Thanks for any help

Did you install an EGR type tb? Usually you get 1495 code if you do. If that is the case the solution is fairly simple. If not you may have forgotten to connect the tube between the MAP sensor and the tb or it has a leak.

Thanks
I have loosened the TPS screws a bit and reset the computer. When
I thought about it more I realized that each time the light went on
was when I got on the gas a little heavy. The engine has been
overrevving and almost sounding like it missed a gear once.
Hopefully this will fix all of the problems.

any other ideas would still be appreciated

So it has come on again even after I have loosened the TPS and
replaced the fuel cap. took just under 100 miles this time, its
getting pretty annoying. The dealer said that it was just a loose
gas cap but I have checked and it was still tight. Could something
be wrong with the TB because this all started when I put it on?

The next thing I am gonna do is put the V6 TB back on it and see if
the light still comes on.

Thanks
