My 92 dakota, v6 won't start. over the past two weeks, it failed to start 2-3 times but after waiting awhile, it would start and run perfect. now its dead. I hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key. gas sqirts from the fuel rail. I put gas into the throttle body. there is no spark at the plugs or from the coil. the only computer code set (33) is for the a/c relay. I put a voltmeter on the coil input, the voltage goes up when I first try to start but then goes to zero as I continue to crank. I swapped out the ASD relay but no luck.

Something I thought was interesting. I measured voltage (with key on "run") at the connectors for the CPS and the distributor pickup. I measured a voltage (8 or 5 volts) at the two outter terminals. I only expected to find a voltage at one of the terminals (input voltage to the sensor). The middle terminal is for ground, I measured zero in the middle.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be or what to try next?

92 dakota, v6, automatic, v8 TB, New injectors, plugs, wires, cap, rotor
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Have you checked and/ or redone that splice in the
cable harness under the underhood fuse/relay box ?
It should be about 8 inches down the harness from the box. Also check 'grounds' and battery connections. One most important ground is to the bracket at back of alternator

It's the splice. When the splice fails for the power to the ASD, it also often fails to provide power to the A/C relay. Happened to me last winter.

I checked the wire harness. I found several splices. One was bad (blk/grey), it went to the A/C relay and a/c CB and starter relay. All the other splices were good. One splice had red/white, another was green/orange, another was blue/orange. After repairing the one splice, still not starting.

i think that splice #115 that causes all those symptoms is red/ red-white wires.
