I contacted Flowmaster and they told me the flowmaster 50SUV was the best for my 2001 Dakota with the 3.9 engine and i really like it. It takes a while to break in to sound good but its great

I have the Super 40 (duals) on my 97, 3.9, quad cab, 4x4.
I've been told on a few occasions that it sounds really good at idle(and i like it to)...but once you start going down the road and at high RPMs it deffinately sounds like a V6.
I like it overall....it offsets the Hum of the BFG All terrain TA's nicely...
hope this helps.

Mac,
Any idea how it compares at higher RPMs with the original 40 series...more/less ricey?

Original 40 is similar...really good at idle. Obvious V6 at higher RPMs.

But then again...I don't think it's possible to make a V6 sound like a V8 without adding 2 more cylinders.
