you could probably just peel them off but, there will be 2 holes in your fender where the emblem was.

daddio, I have never seen holes from where emblems where early dakotas with door trim had holes,when I was in collison line of work of 3 yrs. but maybe never came across this before not trying to be a smarta!s know it all still learning being a mechanic and autobody final inspection s(t)upervisor LOL.... most emblems are two-sided taped or glue adhesive that don't screw up your paint finish and can removed safely and cleaned off residue with denatured alcohol found at most hardware stores or visit your local collison shop an have them remove them for FREE maybe or small fee ??

pete, i had them on my '00 QC and thought about pulling them off until i looked in the inner side of the fender and saw 2 prongs protuding though the fender. they weren't used to attach the emblems but for alignment purposes.
then a run in with a bus about 2.5 yrs ago caused the whole front clip to be changed. when they did that i told the body shop i did not want those emblems on there. they got a front clip from an '02 which didn't have the emblems.
needless to say my truck is now totally de-badged. no Quad Cab, Dodge, Dakota Sport nothing. onlt hing on my truck is the big Ram's head in the front, middle of the hood. i just peeled them all off myself and used alcohol to clean the adhesive residue off.

My '00 has the 2 small holes in the fenders that the V6 emblems are attached to. If yours does you could replace them with the emblems from a 4cyl dakota. their emblems just simply say MAGNUM.
