I think it's a missfire.
It starts fine and idels great but when i give it some gas it starts to missfire and even backfire somtimes. Give it more gas and it will clear, drop a gear and go.
Driving along it's fine untill you have to it some gas say to go over a hill then it starts to play up.
I have changed the plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, air filter,TPS,and even gave it a new ground wire.
Non of this has had any effect and has me and my local garage baffeled.
Any ideas what it could be?.

How many miles on it? Have you ever changed the timing chain? They are notorious for wearing out by 100K miles, and will backfire if the timing is off.

Thanks for your help people but i have got it sorted today,
Completly by chance i found that the O2 sensor was cracked. i replaced it another $100 bucks or so just on the off chance that that may be it, but the Engine Check lite was not on and is working as it comes on when the ignition is turned on.
Any how after replacing the O2 sensor i went for a drive and she is purring like a kitten again.
So any ideas on the engine check lite?.
