 Subject: what gears

I have decided to get some new gears. I hav the 3:55s now on my automatic 2002 3.9. I have headr that the 4.56(i think thats what they were) were better for the automatics and that the 4.10s were best for the manuals. is this correct. what can i expect out of them. mpg increase or decrease??hp??
also i plan to remove the fan do i need to replace this or just let the other fan do the job??
