its starts right about 1900
if i keep the rpm's there it stays
if i continue to excel by 2100 its gone
any idea's ?

sounds like a bad wire...do a tune up .......cap rotor and wires ...summit racing SUM-867624CR has a kit that works well with 3.9 dakotas

was my first thought however less then 6,000
on cap rotor an wires and their brass
less then 3000 on the plugs
no one had ngk fr5's in stcok
so used the autolite 3923's

Hi daddio and yes just the certain rpms
speed doesnt seem to matter
its a 95 with just under 140,000
within the last year ive put new cat O2 EGR
and temp sensor

i'm leaning towards something worn it the distributor. what you might want to do is throw a timing light on there and see if the timing is jumping around @ idle and that certain rpm where it acts up. either the chain or distributor maybe.

that's just a thought.

sorry to go back and forth with you
my fault i should have put more info up 1st time around
put a new chain and tentioner this jan
i'll get some one to hold the idle up for me
and get the light on there
what usually wears out in the distrib?
and replacing the worn parts or a whole new distrib unit the best way to go if it is the problem?

i have this but mine is a 2002 and it's right around 2400 rpm. dealer told me it was the programming. i don't want my computer flashed cause the other program they have i heard is crap! mine goes away after warm up. get the NGK's they are much better than the autolites. my truck did not run good with the autolites. did your truck do this before the new timing chain? sounds like a timing issue.

seems to me it could be the pcm, do u know if its a spark miss or fuel miss? If its fuel then its the pcm, u know what cylinders its missing on?
