Well for starters I dont think that dropping a Cummins Turbo Diesel in your Dak will pass emissions and the wiring and other things that you will have to do to the truck will get expensive considering that the two engines are completely diffiren't. However you can look in your glove box and see what gears you have or I think you can look on the driver side door jam on the inside. If you do get this engine in the Dak post pics....

Well, we're about to see how long a 42RE will stand up. I don't plan on doing any towing so it might last a bit.
I have an old 4bt that I'll be using.

46RE unless you got options ordered extra but sounds like SXT group build sheet thats what my 02 SXT has.And should be able to find out by looking in your glovebox gives you the build sheet for your truck,unless someone peel it off like a jacka!s

You will get the information from the stealership. Call the parts counter with your vin#. They can tell you everything you need to know. Provided no major replacement work took place.
