99 3.9l

Every once and a while she pings, low rpm wortst @ WOT.

I Use premium gas cause its worse with 89 octane.

Have:
Brand new NKG FR5's gaped to 040
MSD coil and 8.5 wires
New cap and router.
New O2 sensors (both b4 and after cat)
And it still happens...

Also headers, F&B TB, and CAI.

Its been happening since i can remember, but its pretty rare.
Im thinking cat or timing?

Any Ideas would be great.
Thx

Vacuum leak somewhere. Maybe a cracked hose disconnected hose or missing hose. Most likely it is your plenum gasket.

Did F&B TB recently, plenum looks great,

My vacume from the carbon filter off the gas tank is broken off though (At the box).

Try engaging your AC when it starts to ping. I thought my truck was pinging, but it ended up being the AC clutch going out ( weird, I know! ). The clutch finally locked up on me and I ended up replacing the tensioner ( which was bad anyway ) and ran a short belt on it to bypass the AC for now due to budget restraints. If anyone has to do this, you'll probably need a larger belt than the one specified for non AC trucks as the one that Autozone gave me was way too short. I think perhaps the idler pulley on the non AC trucks is smaller or something.

Anyway, it won't hurt to see if there is a correlation between the AC and your pinging sounds.

Ive heard about the halos

I dont see how the tentioner would cause a ping, mabey your refering to the squeeky belt.

Any more ideas on the pinging
Cat is only thing I can get from all this.
