I suppose when a truck gets to be nine years old, it is okay for it to get quirky.
My 98 3.9 automatic has developed an unusual but harmless odd behavior;
The cruise control locks-up. At the beginning of a trip, the light will be on but it won't work. Turning off the engine and restarting fixes it. Fun to do at 65 MPH. I just leave it in gear and cycle the ignition switch.
Any (real) idea of why the cruise has developed a personality?

Thats a strange one

posible

speed sensor
tps

What I would do is first check all connections and
grounds for the cruse and the fuse in the box for
caroision

My truck bought new dec 1994 will be 13 this year
and nothing like that happening although about
2 years ago when I would turn the park lights on
the buzzer would go off blinkers light up and
many strange things

checked all connections and removed and cleaned
all grounds and it has never happened again

One thing you must remember here is these comp
controled vehicles do not switch power they
switch grounds on and off

I love this little dak and plan on keeping it
forever also have the 94 sport 2 wheel with the
4.0 stroked motor 309/322 at the wheels these
are my 2 babies beuteful blue reg cab short box

I am looking at a 2000 right now I was waiting for
a hemi dak but it never happened now I see the
jeep with a 3.0 litre desel turbo coming out
why don't they put that in a dakota

Get lost, I personally do not believe in "global warming" I do think the sun is getting a little hotter, causing some added heat to our little world, but I am at loss to understand how we are suppose to cool our world. Also, the polar caps on Mars are doing some melting as well, so what is causing that to happen? The oil companies are the ones that want us to believe we can, and hopefully will cool the world. Just think, if we can some how cool the world into another ice age, look at all the money the oil companies will be making.
One more question, in the mid 70's we were told that in 10 years the world would come to an end because of the ice age coming back, what happened to that? I guess I must have missed that. Anyway, I think everyone can believe what they want, until there is solid proof the world is heating up, I'll stick with the oil companies trying to trick us into another ice age. Makes as much sense as Albert Gore Jr.

Ya, I also believe the human influence on global warming is small. The real problem facing us is pollution, not global warming! Silly democrats!!! I dont think an increase of a few degrees is going to end the world. In fact, I wouldnt mind the temperature change at all! I hate the cold! (I live in mid-Florida)
