I now own a 95 Dakota v6 with 148,000. I have been looking at some newer used ones. My question is how much difference is there in gas mileage between the v8 and v6? Any help would be appreciated.

The V8 and V6 are very close in gas mileage
it all depends on how you drive

I get 24.5 with my 95 4x4 120,000 miles on a
92 motor

All the mods and bolt on's and ram air

Go with the 4.7 for sure. I get 13-14 around town and 17 on the highway at 70 with my 3.9. My grandpas 4.7 gets 13 city bout 20 highway engine doesnt have to work much on grades either just scoots right up it.

Ive said it myself a few times. I shoulda got a V-8.

I get 20-22 mpg with my stock 92 V-6 in a club cab 4WD. I rented a 2004 4.7 Quad Cab while it was in the shop, and could not get over 17 mpg. So if you haul a lot and need the V-8, it's justified. But if your truck is only for occasional hauling, the V-6 will make for a big savings over the v-8 over time.
