Well I started my install today after work, I'm tired of waiting for a weekend off. (I guess the Mrs is going without a vehicle tommorrow) I completed the R/S Roller Rocker install, got the FMS injectors in, MSD coil in. (still wondering where to put the igintion box) It's all been pretty smooth, I'm glad I bought the new push rods though, after looking at the stock compared to the Comp Cam ones. Stock would work like Larry said, no damage to them, but the quality of the two don't even come close. I should have it all complete by Sunday evening, I'm going to wait til I get some exhaust work done (next Saturday) before I install the new O2's and do the IAT and Crank Sensor mods

You're doing a lot of stuff! Hey, when you finally get your MSD installed, let us know where you placed it. I've had one for some time now, and haven't installed it primarily because I haven't found a good place to locate it. Thought about relocating the horn and putting it there.

Tuck,
Finished my install yesterday, I mounted the ignition box on the firewall just above the distibutor, mind you I have a 3" body lift, so I had a little more room to play with there.
Truck seems to run so much smoother, Haven't had it on the highway yet. Still waiting on my F&B 48mm TB (Back order I suppose)

I'm just wondering if I should use my Superchips Programmer and put it back to stock, and let it relearn it all,and then reflash it or leave the program alone and let it learn it from there.

Tuck,
I almost pulled my seats out and was thinking about mounting it under them, the adding of the wires stopped me (and the fact of tearing my cab apart), but if it didn't fit where I placed it, with access to the cap and rotor, that is where I was going to place it.

As for my first day on the highway with the new installs, well it isn't a V8, but impressive, smooth running all across the board. From idle to cruising up the road. Gas mileage seemed about the same, but then I never keep my foot outta it either. I need a few more days to really see it, I suppose.

So you would recommend getting push rods also, but not necessary. How much were the HI TECH 7933-1? When I search that part # on summits site it says the applications are for ford and mercury's? Whats up with that? How about the valve springs since I'm in there would I want to replace those?

These are the instructions I used and they used the HI TECH 7933-1, so I went with it, all seems good.

As for valve springs I don't see a need fo it, unless your planning on something more later down the road, but even then you'll most likely want the heads completely re-done anyway.

Buy the Rods from Comp Cam website if you decide to replace em, you'll save a few bucks per rod over Summit.

Good Luck

They are the $10.76 ones right? Not the $146.34.

Thanks for responding back. :)

That seems like a lot of extra cash to chunk out though. And there is no way in heck I am removing all those parts just to get to the roller rockers, man thats just crazy talk for me I will lose something and forget what went where. So with that said I will have to pay a mechanic to install the rockers/rods. Man I wonder what that will cost for labor?!?!

Thanks for the help though you have been very patient with my silly questions. And I would really appreciate more answers.

And you where talking about replacing the springs as well. Well anyway, It may seem a bit intimadating, but it's really nothing much other than taking off the old and putting on the new. If you don't rush and rip a gasket, no need to replace them. Just do a pair at a time. Keep everything clean, little loc-tite on the new bolts, torgue em (Use a quality torgue wrench)to specs. Keep stock rods in same place (Use a numbered egg cartoon to keep em straight if need be). Squirt some oil on em, Put covers and everything back in place you needed to get out of the way. And your good to go. Just take your time and have fun with it.

I was intimadated by it, but once I got in there, Shoot, I was happy as a hog in slop.

Read through that link a few times, and save a few hundred, and do it yourself.
