The only way you could have a bad throwout bearing is to have a throwout bearing in the first place. The auto tranny aint' got one. Sorry. If your auto tranny is shuddering and slipping, it may be low on fluid.

But thats not you. :0) You have an auto, I'm leaning towards the fluid too. If that doesn't do it, have it checked over by a mechanic. I really don't recommend working on an auto yourself.

Greg do you compress the springs? I didnt, I just droped off the upper ball joint and where the sway bar connects and it droped fine, I had to pry the spring out with a big screwdriver, It went well. Now Im getting alot of looks, I also instaled the rear spoiler,Looks real good.

Make sure the number on it is "110"...otherwise, you can count on it blowing out after 2-4 months (standard valve is a 102 or 104).

jesse, you dont have to compress the spring.. i didnt even have to pry it out. I just had the truck lifted and had a jack under the lower control arm and lowered the jack all the way and pulled the spring out. Use to take me awhile but now i am pretty good at changing springs!

::: update :::

(took me a little while to find this thread/talk about recycling threads! lol)

well i decided to go with the turbo concept again and have been working on it for a week now. Everything is done except i need to get an air hat and drill a line for the oil return... and get an oil inlet flange.

so..... i have built one header, the crossover pipe and the intake (non intercooled now but will soon change). i will get pics up when i can but i am just trying to throw everthing together to make it to the houston mopar show but looks like funds wont let me. Either way i think this thing will be done buy this weekend.

just to let you know my expenses;

$100 TB0301 Turbo
$100 compressor housing (not neccessary but looked good)
$70 Header flanges, bolts, gaskets
$21 Pipe flanges
$65 Mandrel bent pipes
$30 blow off valve
$20 misc. hardware
$46 oil lines/fittings

$452 total

i still need a boost controlled timing retard but wont get one until i can afford it and i will need a new gas pressure regulator. Those two items will probably set me back another $300 but i will see if this thing works with out it... just no racing! I will also buy a nice intercooler and bigger injectors and have the pcm flashed for all my mods but that wont be till later.

i think that when i am done i am gonna get some shelby stickers from the dealership an have a little fun on my truck.... what do ya thing?

Well, to follow in your foot steps, i'm looking at doing one also, there is a nice shinny turbo sitting at the performance shop i sorta kinda work at, and a good exhaust place next door that can fab up pipes for me.

Did you figure your y pipe idea out? how are you going to mount the turbo? custom bracket from the block? i dont want to just hang it from the various pipes, did you get an air to air inter cooler? what was your original placement idea?

Thanks,

first my nitrous now my turbo!! ahhhh!!!!

hehe

i have all my pipes done except the intake tube (dont have a throttle body hat yet) and i need to hook my new pipes to the old exhuast to exit the truck. I didnt make a bracket to hold the turbo on because you really dont need one. If the turbo sits above it, it will hold the weight easily... but like on the Grand Nationals, they have a bracket because the exuast comes from the sides of the turbo. My shelby had just a little support brace for it (i.e. piece of metal with a bolt) and i might do that but right now everything is holding up great! I am not gonna have an intercooler yet but will get one when i save up some money. I want to get a nice aluminum one. I will get some pics of it so far as soon as i get some more of it done (i.e. throttle body hat and intake tube).

wont Ll Blackdak get jealous if you make your 4X4 V6 turbocharged!!
