ok funny story so i was doin a lil off roading in my 03 dakota and well i got a pretty big log stuck on top of the skid plate causing my hydraulic line for the clutch to catch on fire. im kind of in a bind because i have to drive to florida on sunday from illinois and my clutch is completely shot and the hydraulic line is back ordered. well i ordered the new slave clutch which from what ive read isnt hard to install, but i have to make shift the hydraulic line and was wanting an opinion on it. i bought a pretty hefty fuel line that is the same size as the other and i was just going to cut off the melted spots and attach it to the old line..do you think that will work well enough to get me home or have any ideas how i can make shift fix this?

I sure don't recommend a band aid repair on anything. Hopefully your serious about temporary fix.
If you think on it, Your using the exact same fluid as brakes and the clutch requires the same amount of pressure each time you depress it. Your brakes on the other hand can require any foot pressure from very light to standing on it in an emergency. So no matter what was on the clutch for tubing. brake line is far more then strong enough. Far as I know. None of the Dakotas have a bleed on the slave cylinder. So, bleeding is difficult at best. Your best shot is to be sure the cylinder is full of fluid including what ever original line your leaving. Your going to need a flaring tool.Flare the piece left on the cylinder before priming with fluid. Do the rest of your connecting and fill from the top. Your only option at this point provided you do not have a bleeder on the slave cylinder. now you very very slowly depress the cluch pedal to the floor and block it from the seat to hold it down . The idea is to give the slow moving air bubbles plenty of time to rise to the top. I usually let them sit like this over night. You may get by with 3 or 4 hours and may need to do this more then once. Good luck.

Find a bone yard and get a used line

Unless you use compresion fittings it will leak
with heavy plastic lines like used on air shocks
the system makes over 300 psi and the best rubber
line avalible is 300 psi
