I have a 93 3.9 Dak. Wondering does the V6 sound good with duals? If so what kinda of reasonable good sounding setup I need to get?

You will loose too much back pressure resulting in a loss of torque if you go with dual. Better off putting on a good single.

Hay man I have flowmaster duels and I love them and I have had many complements on them, It all depends on your tast, but i would rather have two crome pipes comming out the back instead of just one, I love my flows, on your Kota it will look real good too.

I got a flowmaster single in dual out the rear exhaust and it sounds and perfoms awsome! Didn't loose any power. The bottom end is the same but after like 3K RPM's it really picks up the power. I got 2 1/4 " piping.

Kamaka: A dual exit system isn't considered "Dual Exhaust". Piping is the correct size in your case on the dual exit.

I split the exhaust just behind the stock cat with no mufflers I can see a slight loss in power but she pulls strong above 2K. sound awesome. I have the tips coming off the 45s out back. Looks awesome. Sound great at idle, quite a bit of sound probably more than most people can take in the cab, especially in tight areas and a steady drone cruising.

I would like the look of dual exhaust, but how does the one in two out work, it there a muffler that does that or it a "Y" pipe that splits after the muffler?

I'm not sure on yours but on mine the exhaust comes together just before the catalytic converter with one Y-pipe, then after the cat, I had another Y-pipe installed to split it off into the dual exit. I had no mufflers put back on so mine's as loud as the law with allow.

I just finished my exhaust system yesterday and It sounds and looks great. I ran a single pipe back from the Y all the way to the rear bumper. I did away with the muffler and the converter, then I built a custom pipe bumper. The bumper is two pieces of inch and a half inside diamiter/two inch outside, they run across the back with one about eight inches above the other with a piece of diamond plate between them. Then I split the single exhaust pipe with a handmade miniture Y pipe using two inch inside diameter pipe and ran it in to the center of the bumper. So now there are four outlets, two on each side and it sounds great. I thought that it might be a little too loud, but after it goes through the thick pipe it must get muffled quite a bit it isn't any louder than dual exhaust..

First, you need a pic. Second am I getting you correct in saying that your rear bumper IS your exhaust? That's kinda scary, probably sounds cool but the bumper won't be. Cool that is, at least temp wise.

Yes, my custom pipe bumper is now my muffler and my quad tail pipes. I've driven it around for a while and felt the pipes, they don't seem to gather much heat, probebly because they are so thick. I'll post a pic. as soon as I can get one. The sound is like no exhaust I've ever heard before.

So is the bumper part polished?? This sounds kinda cool and kinda cooky but in a good way. Such a unique system must yield a unique sound. If you had to compare it to something what would it be?

I'm really not sure what to compare it to because I have really never heard anything really close to the same before. No my bumper is not part polished, but I think I'm going to but four chrome exhaust tips and add them on.
How do I post pictures anyway?

I have just put Dual Pipes on my 1992 Dodge Dakota V6 Magnum. Oh man! I Love this! i put a Y behind my Cat. Converter, then ran dual pipes under my bumper, got it done at Mizer Muffler, i know i dont know to much about doing it myself, but it got done didnt it! sounds like a beast at idle, goin 55 it grawl's a lovely tone, people at the Fire Department love the sound of my exhaust, they can hear me 2 miles before i can get to the station! im just worried about going downtown where a lot of police are, i dont want to ticket for Noise Pollution, i know someone that did, is there any way to throttle it so it aint so loud goin thru heavily populated areas. ThanX

If you don't have mufflers then you've got nearly the same exhaust I do. Mine are running off the 45s. I loose some of the long distance rumble you have but I do turn my world into my amp. I go through a neiborhood and it reverbs A LOT. If yours is like mine though just try to lay back when accelerating about 2K and it'll shift. doesn't get ugly for me until about 2300-2500.

I put a single 2 1/2" in to dual 3" out Vortex muffler with mandrel bent Maremont pipes and chrome tips on my 99 3.9. It not only looks great, but it sounds AWESOME and doesn't have the "drone" that you tend to get with the Flowmaster. It is also one of the least expensive systems out there. $150-$200 complete depending on pipes.

What is the awsome sound? Is it like a deep rumble or can you compare it to another sound? Just wondering, thanks for the tip!
