I have a stock 92 dak 3.9 with auto 83k miles and had a strange occurance.I Started to climb a step mountain incline and soon found that i had very little throttle response my top speed was 35-40 mph completly with the pedal to the floor and had some valve tapping(also had no kick down passing gear ability what so ever)prior to this it would climb these same mountains with ease.didnt think i would make it over the mountain but did.On level terain it seems to run OK.I have noticed an increase in gas consumption And running a little slugish I have installed new o2 sensor and plugs cap rotor and wires within the last 5k miles.Truck ran fine prior to the trip over the mountain.Sorry for the long post any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanks

Sounds like the typical cat plugging. Only test I know of is to hit it with a rubber hammer or your fist paying attention for rattle. Second option is to disconnect it in front of the cat and make the same run. It will be a very loud ride but it will tell you if the cats the problem.

Check plenum gasket. A bad vacuum leak in your intake manifold will cause this.
