 Subject: Heater Core Again!

I have 98 3.9 2wd, November 05 I replace the heater core. Now 1 yr and 2 months later I am getting a slight amount of steam and coolant smell out of my vents. I know heater cores don't go that fast, but I can't think of any thing else that would cause that. I check all hoses I could going into the firewall all appeared to be tight and no leak anywhere visible on the engine. Anybody know what could cause this or what could possibly cause my heater core to go out so quick?
