How many o2s might i have on my 99 3.9 rwd cc. I seen one behind the cat wondering if there was another. Horribly gas mileage and low end power loss.

does the one before the cat usually cause most issues. Is there a good way to check because i get no codes.I just dont want to dump the 50 bucks unless it solves the problem.

the one before the cat is used by the PCM to adjust A/F ratio. after the cat just tells the PCM if the cat is working or not.
if you have service manual of some kind for reference, i am sure there is a way to check the O2 with a volt meter. the best way is an oscilloscope but a DVM will work.

Ok great, so they way i see it is that if the one after the cat is bad chances are (not always) that you will get a trouble code. Otherwise good possibility that it is the first one then. Is that pretty accurate?

yep, you go it. i bought a Haynes manual for my wife's '00 Protege and my son's '93 saturn. the manual have saved me a ton of money. they both show me how to test an O2 sensor w/ a DVM.

thanks daddio, Usually the first thing i do after buying a new car is get the manual. For some odd reason i hadnt picked one up yet, Usually go with the chilton any differences anyone may know of as to which may be better this addition. I know they each have strengths and weaknesses however which has less weaknesses for this vehicle.
