What is the eaisest way to check fuel pressure? I am having idle problems and need to check that it getting enough fuel. I've heard you can just listen to the fuel pump pumping and that is enough. Whats you thoughts and commments?

what year and engine? my '00 3.9 has a schrader valve on the fuel rail. that's the best place to put a gage.

if someone can tell fuel pressure by listening to the pump, they must be good! LOL

under hood at the value is best, be sure to have rags around to catch fuel.

You can hear the pump run when you first turn the key to "on" and if the exhaust isn't too loud, you can hear it when the truck is running. This tells you that the pump is on but it doesn't tell you if the pressure is high enough. If the truck runs, the pump works. If you have fuel problems, you gotta check the pressure with a gage.

i agree with Dan M
if youve already done the basics, (plugs, wires, cap, rotor
then you'd have to think TB's need cleaning
IAC's, not sure if the 87-88's have them ???

timing chains rattling?
if so and lots of milage on the motor you
should be looking to change them if you want the motors to last a bit longer
