WHY???????????? you have a damn 2 wheel drive truck. all its going to do is throw off your speedometer and make your truck slower than piss and give you even worse mileage. you're retarded, stop asking stupid questions.

Ok from what reading I've done you'd have to go with a 3" body lift to get those 31's to fit under your 2wd. Those are stock size for a 4wd so maybe you can guesstimate what'll happen with 31's on your 2wd. On my 4x4 I had to lift my Torsion bars (which you dont have) to get 32's to fit. So once again compare hieght and size difference. Never mind the negative responses. Those are just people that have no experience and no intelligence on the subject to give you reasons not to try. By all means if the time and money is worth it have at it

but why? its 2wd, it'll still get stuck in the snow or mud. do you think its cool just to give the illusion that its a big 4wd or something? it just seems like alot of money to blow on something stupid. this kid was already bitching about his gas mileage earlier, this would just make it worse. look, you already have the 255/65/16's. my truck has the same size goodyear eagles, they're the best all purpose tire there is. all im saying is, if you're gonna blow money on your truck, at least blow it on something useful, not big tires on a 2wd truck.

Who's to say what it is worth toward your truck? You are the soul provider toward your truck. That's like saying all those pre-runner guys are friggin retarted because they look 4wd but are still 2wd. The body lift for ths guy is less than $200 excluding time, plus he's already prepared to buy new tires. It's not a waste of time or money if this is what he want's. You might as well tell all the V6 guys doing any mods is a waste of time becasue you're not going to be as fast at the V8 guy.

Doing an inexpensive lift he can easily do himself in a day and getting some tires he wants. How do you come up with the assumption more money than brains? This is something easily achievable. Also with the tire/ speedo issue, you can go to the dealer and they can flash your PCM for the change or you can buy a superchips, do it your self and get some extra power from one of the programs. Ryan - From reading your post under "superchips" I definately see how you can say this is a "more money than brains" issue. A simple lift and tire combo is much harder than trying to get the V6 into the 15's, because your mad a lighter vehicle is faster than you. Give me a break.

you know what, you're absolutely right.. if this kid wants to blow thousands of dollars on big tires, either letting the dealer rape him on a flash or a superchips tuner, not to mention buying a lift kit, more power to him. maybe he alone can stimulate the economy. however, i think its alot cooler to make a slow truck fast, than to put big tires on a 2wd truck. and i could get into the 15's right now if i wanted to risk blowing every gasket in my motor by putting a 100 shot of nitrous in it.

I apreciate yalls help. but to put this little argument to rest. I already have a superchip. I came in the mail yesterday. I do not plan on lifting the truck cause ryan u r correct it would be a waste of money on a 2wd truck. that is why i asked how big of tires can i get WITHOUT having to modify the truck. And Adam i agree that it is my truck and i will put whatever i want on it for that fact. and to say this I take my truck off road al the time and barley have problems wiht getting stuck.i am smart about the limits of my truck.I just like the beefier look of the tires. so in conclusion. what is the biggest tire yall think is possible.

WITHOUT having to modify the truck would've been nice to know in the beginning. None of this would have been brought up. So basically you're looking at maybe a 1" bigger tire and that's about it. Ryan - you must be very poor at comprehension of what you're reading or actually just paying attention to it. Not sure where anything that was brought up could amount to thousands of dollars. The lift kit like I already stated...less than $200 (Easily done by your self in a day). Some 31X10.50 tires about $600 and the SC tuner is about $300. You do the math. Also on another note what fun is it to have power only when you decide to press a button for your nitrous? More power to you if you intend on building it up though.

1100$, and i did that without a calculator. and if i had the money, id buy a vortec s/c and end all my problems. but i dont, plus forcing that much air into this motor isnt a good idea, at least not for the long term. if you take your truck offroad thats cool too, your truck must have something extra that mine doesnt because i get stuck in the middle of the road in the snow with 200 pounds of sandbags. even if its just light snow.

What ever you have stock now, you can probably only go up another inch. I dont know what stock size is for a 2wd let alone if it's metric I have no friggin clue. 28-29" probably.

I'm running 235/70/16's on my 2wd Dakota...I think the biggest you can go is a 30" tire...width is where you wanna be careful. Get em too wide and they'll rub at full lock.

As far as putting all-terrain tires on a 2wd Dakota...I'm all for it. I'm running Bridgestone Dueler APT3's. Gives my truck a more aggressive stance (looks more aggressive than a standard 2wd, but not quite like a 4wd). I got my Dueler's after I spun my truck out merging onto a highway on a sharp-curving on-ramp in the rain. Didn't even have my foot on the gas and the ass end just hydroplaned and swung around. I was sick of hydroplaning and having no traction in the rain/snow.

While my truck still doesn't get the greatest traction in the world, the difference between my old all-season tires and the APT3's is like night and day. I can actually drive in the snow without getting stuck and sliding everywhere...I can't drive fast or anything, but it's at least driveable. I can mash it off a stop sign in the rain and still hook up relatively quickly...if I'm rolling I can accelerate quickly without the tires breaking free out of the blue and making my ass-end jump sideways.

Not to mention, it's harder than hell for me to hydroplane now...my buddy and I are stormchasers and often times we'd use my Dakota because he's a f'king pansy and won't drive outside of our town...and he won't get anywhere near the interstate...even though he owned a newer 4x4 Explorer.

Anywho...we were chasing a storm about an hour from here with tornadic activity and torrential rain...we sat in a Dollar General parking lot watching and recording it and after the storm went through we headed back towards home. We were on one of the main highways just outside of West Carrolton, OH heading into Dayton...it was dark, the weather was nice and clear at the time...doing about 60mph and all of a sudden we came up on curb to curb water about 6 inches deep. I BLASTED that water at 60mph and I was able to keep my truck straight without hardly any trouble. My transmission on the other hand didn't take it so well...shorted out a wire somewhere and it wouldn't stay in gear til we pulled off at a nearby hotel and let it dry out.
