MSD 8207 coil

The one that the car wash took out was 7 years old
and made in mexico

The only 8207 I have ever seen fail

My new 8207 is made in china

To this day have never lost a 6a box

Actualy the old one still works but as soon as
the temp reaches 30 40 degrees it acts up
hard starting and will cut out

Lets see how the 1 from china holds up

I rewired it this summer and all was fine untill
the tempeture droped

must be a summer only coil LOL

The one and only MSD 6a I had failed after 4 months.
I did not notice a difference with the MSD vs. stock, so I did not replace the MSD.

Mine never failed but I did remove it. Same reason. There was no differance in nothing except had to do tuneups more frequent. Sold mine. They do have a place but you got to have an engine that's built up considrably.

So many problems .... So little time

It seams nothing helps your truck did you ever
think there was something wrong there

When you say the 1.7 did nothing I know there is
something not right with your truck

The MSD 6a box 1 colder plug AP3923 at.060
FR5 at .055 if you can not tell the diff from
the stock ign wow

The 1.7's have been prover on the dyno 100's
maybe 1000's of times to add 15 to 18 RWHP and
20 to 25 foot pounds of torque
HUMM I guess all these dynos are lying to us LOL

The MSD show 5 hp on a stock truck 10 on a modded

Hell just going from the stock champs to the
1 colder autolite or ngk will show 3 to 4 hp

You need to take a closer look here check the
plugs if they are not a tan light sandy color
somthing is wrong they have to be NOT WHITE

zzark,

I have 2 dodge dakota, I have followed Larry's advise on both of the Daks and noticed god gains on both. On the both of the daks I have a MSD 6a wiht low resistance sparkplug wires and I run the Halos on the v6 and I recently switched the plugs on the v8 and to the ngk vpower fr5. I have the gap on the fr5s set at .055 inches. i was running the autolite ap3923s gapped at the same .055 inches and indexed. I noticed a difference in performance with the NGK v powers. Normally when anyone indcates that the msd 6a doesent make a difference it could be they don't have the gap set wide enough.

I had a 1987 dodge dakota v6 that had a carb. set up adding an msd 5 and running split fire plugs at a gap of .045 really made a difference on that truck and increased gas mileage 2 mpg.

92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Not surprising. Anyone who has seen magnetics outsourced to Mexico knows they have LOTS of quality problems. My last company had this experience, and when they took the product from Mexico to China, problems went away.

Of course, over there, if you screw up, you get a bullet in the back of the head. More motivation to do well.
