I finally have started buillding my V8 for my gen1 Dakota you forget how much money you spend when you are building it but I just now relized I have 2k already invested which isnt much for what I have so far. I started with my 88 Dakota Le with 215k miles put about 100k more on it in a couple years and now have a gas saver that gets 3 times the gas milage so I now have the money to do this swap so down to it I first bought the engine swap kit $650 with oil pan and everything else you would need bought a 78 model 360 complete motor from a buddy for $150 and waited over a year to do anything again meanwhile driving my mid 14 sec 74 duster to get my kicks I one day had a friend over and said hey lets put my motor on the stand so we did so and a week later I had it striped down and away it went to the machine shop. I was hoping for a budget build but measurements said otherwise I had to bore 30 over and crank turned 10 under so I had the Machine shop order me a assembly kit with flat top pistons so all that is ready with a bill of $800 dollars and Im there paying and picking up and I look on his shelf and there are heads in bags and I see the tap of one says 340 360 2.02 and so I ask those for sale and he says yes those are the slow season projects. So I look at the heads and the Cast # is 3418915 and any old mopar person knows #915 means 2 things 340Ta head or 360 but 360 only came with 1.88 valves so they could only be TA heads so Im all excited ask him a price and he starts using the calculator im like damn he is going to want alot he starts saying numbers and finaly says $450 now im like i will be back to get them today. Im figuring if these are the Ta heads I can resale them for much more but i finally researched and found out that mopar did make 360 heads with 2.02 but they deny it for some reason which is still great so I buy them. Thats my story now the figures.

1978 360 bored 30 over
Federal mogal flat top pistons
915 heads with 2.02 valves 72cc
Still deciding on cam since new heads
cam I have is 445/455-288/298 114 centerline
My brother used it for a summer on a 318 quick reving and crazy high end power
Edelbrock Db4 intake till I can get a airgap

So im figuring with enough carb 400hp+

Jesus.....Would you please use some periods "." every now and then? How about some spacing. Reading that was like reading a lett from a kid who forgot his Rittlin.

Nice story though!

We just recently put togather a 360

new short block
272/272 .500 119 overlap
the excesive overlap is to create less scavaging
keeping the valves closed longer to pack the
cyls with the 8 pound boost vortech s/c

with the retard at 0 no ping mopar perf comp
10.5 compression big valve heads

dyno runs have all been just over 500 ponies
at the wheels 94 ram 4x4

you should be between 300 400hp at the wheels
above 3000rpm with that cam it would scream
I would say around a 700 holley would work well
