Subject: ignition coil or module?

Message:
does a 2001 dakota 3.9 use a coil, or does it use an ignition control module? ive already put a brass cap and rotor and plug wires and i want to do some more ignition work. theres a thing that looks like a coil where the plug wire from the center of the distributor goes into. if it is a coil, i wanna get an MSD blaster coil.

Its a coil

MSD SS Blaster 8207 you can take a small metal
plate and mount it in the same spot or anywhere
you want

Add the 6a box regular not the odd fire with the
obd2 you will also need the tach adapter or it
will trow coil circuit codes

plug gap with this system to see the gains
.050 to .060

The NGK FR4 or 1 colder FR5 we are getting the
best resaults at .055 this is the Vpower plug

I got a 1999 3.9l 2wd single cab Dakota, and I have an Accell blaster coil and adapter, but when I plug it nothing will work? So I pluged my OEM coil back in and it works fine so any suggestions or other info you need to figure this out? While installing this Accell blaster coil I also installed MSD 8.5mm wires and E3 spark plugs, an Accell distr. cap and rotor. I tried everything before I detached the OEM coil and it worked great came back to the garage switched the coils oit and nothing? Could this Accell coil be bad? Thanks for the help.

If the wires are on right the coil should work

The coil may be bad I have seen many accel coils
go bad even when good for some reason they do not
hold up on the dodge mags

Call them and get the resistance readings and
you can check the coil with an ohm meter

The MSD 8207 summitracing.com only like $40 $50
I have only seen one of these go bad but that
was my own fault going threw a car wash it got
soaked missed for a while about a week or so
after that it went out

I have never seen a 6a box fail yet

Hey Larry,

I have read your comments before on this forum and I respect
your wisdom. I have a question for you..

What should the resistance be for an ignition coil on a dodge
Dakota 95 3.9l? And what brand do you recommend?
