 Subject: 89 topflight problems

got an 89 with 215,000 on it. yea its alot, but o well. the transmission has a problem tho, everythign else runs. When is tart it it runs fine, idle smooth, and when you hold the brake and put it in any gear, it just cuts off. im thinking its the torgue converter locked up and bought one, but be4 i use it, i wanna no if there is any suggestions from other dakota owners. if you think its something else im all ears. thnx

have you checked the codes?it could be the speed sensor or wires going to sensor,it controls idle when coming to a stop or when you put it in gear,
the sensor is on the trans or transfer where the cable goes in for the speedometer
