THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED TO DO AND YOU WILL BE
A HAPPY CAMPER!

"All of them help once they are all done they
compliment each other

Do them in the correct order doing the exhaust
first befor intake is done will show a low end
loss

crank sensor mod

cold air
bigger throttle body
1.7 rockers
relocate IAT about 6" from body bottom of claner
or in tube

gasket matching intake optional

now exhaust
headers
high flow cat
low restriction muff

now add the MSD 6a multi strike ignition box

a tonno cover and all syn fluids also helps

stock I got 15 to 17
after all the mods 22 24

You must also be sure all your sensors are
working properly a lazy sensor will kill
mileage

good plugs like the NGK
FR4 stock heat range
FR5 1 colder

good cap like the napa mo26 and 28 cap and rotor
solid brass incerts

good wires like the taylor 8mm or MSD 8.5

there ya go start doing them in that order
when you get them all done they run great and
get good mileage

personaly I like the halo plugs but most will
not spend the money E3 are also giving good
resaults

champ autolite $.99 ea walmart
NGK $2.25 each
E3 $5.99 ea
Halo $8.99 ea

92 95 obd1 .035
96 up obd2 .040
stock ignition

with an MSD box .050 to .060

Have Fun

WOW. Some of ya'll went too far. Go onto hughesengines.com and get the cam HER0814AL-V6. You'll need to buy their valve springs, but it was worth it. I have the cam, springs, domed pistons, a .30 over bore, and 4.10 gears. I have no problem pulling the tread off my tires.

Fed, the truck does sound different. Anytime you upgrade the cam like I did, you'll get a more race aggressive sound. I'm also running double valve springs, so I get a real heavy chopping sound. When I get on it though, the sound is beautiful. I see you have exhaust and intake mods, so she will sound quite nice.
Jack, there are a few ways to tell if you have an exhaust manifold leak:
1. carbon build up on the block around the manifold.
2. the enigine will sound louder under the hood.
I'd still check it out. If your O2 sensor is bad, the check engine light shoud come on. It didn't on mine. When is the last time you used a fuel system cleaner? Your TB could have a minor clog. Always start with something cheap, if it doesn't work drop in the cam and some 4.10's. You'll be cruisin' in no time.

ya i know that i have an exhaust manifold leak just wondering if that would create a problem with having back pressure in the exhaust. o and i couldnt get a reading on my back or front o2 sensor with a volt meter. i totaly unpluged the back 1 and it still didnt even show a check engine light. or change any performance wise or is it just the first o2 sensor in the y pipe that effects ne thing.

Your engine requires certain pressures from the intake and exhaust. If you have a leak at any point it could cause small amounts of lag, but not like what you have. As for the O2 sensors, same thing applies there. You'll loose very little power and your engine will seem like its chugging (almost like bad gas). If you can't get a reading from the multimeter check out one of the Dakota books. I can't remember the name of the books, but you can get them at just about any auto parts store.

Your truck seems to have a hard time shifting when you get on it? Sounds like your tranny fluid may be low or really old. I'd still get you O2 check out as well. Back to the shifting. Does the truck seem to buck or does it just take a while for it to pick up the lower gear?

its only maybe 5-6 times in a month or so but then the rest it shifts fine. and i just got a tranny flush, and right after that i noticed better shifting but it was doing this sort of thing before the trany flush. o and i read somewhere that it might of been the tps sensor so i got a new one and it still happens every once in a while

My next step would be a new tranny, but those can be pricey. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
