how big is my gas tank? i have a 2003 sxt reg cab short with the 3.9 v6. the book says 20 but i had my fuell light come on and i fulled it up and it took 15 gallons thats all. so it coul;dnt be 20

The fuel light comes on when the tank gets low, not necessarily near empty. My light comes on when there is about 6 gallons left in the tank. If you want to take a chance, next time the fuel light comes on, keep on driving and see how far you get and then fill her up.

mine is a 22 gallon tank
the light comes on when there is 4 gallons left in the tank...
so i can roughly go 50 miles after the gas light turns on and still have about a gallon left in there to get me to the gas station! haha
i know this cuz my gas gauge stopped workin so im using the mileage to calculate when i need gas and what not.. relying highly on the gas light now

running your tank too low will cause your fuel pump to go out. The pump is cooled by the fuel. When the fuel is run too low the pump overheats and dies sooner than it should.

i drive till theres about 1 or 2 gallons left in the tank
