Subject: 89 dakota Wont Crank Over

Got a 88 dakota wont crank over when the key is turrned on. Got power to all lights and stuff just nothing when i turn the key over, ANyone know where i can start?

You may have the infamous bad splice between the battery and relay box. If you have a multimeter you can check for voltage to the starter relay.

I had the same problem once it was a loose ground on the starter.

The dealer I bought my 88 from in Ga. put a toggle switch at the bottom of the dash,charged $100 for it and called it an anti theft device.It got turned off several times accidently and caused me grieve several times before I remembered it. Probably not what it is but is worth a look if it came from Ga.

Thanks Guys was the infamous splice problem, Took me 5 min to find the break in the red wire. Patched others also. Bought thiss truck last week for 100$ Dude could not figure it out. Im going to drive it to his house tonight and give him back his old Plate, Lol thanks all.
