What is the best way to get more power out of the 3.9L V6?

If money is no object, forced induction (turbo, supercharger) is the way to go. Of course, that will run you about $2500.00 to $3000.00+. For about half that you could probably get an entire v8 and matching pcm from a salvage yard and ditch the v6. After all, there is no replacement for displacement. Or, if you are on a budget like me, and prefer the challenge of making your ride go faster regardless of what it is (4,6,or 8), you could just buy each performance mod one by one and see how they add up. The two improvements that have made the most noticeable difference on my truck, have been porting the throttle body (courtesy of dremel) and a $20.00 chrome 10 inch "old fashioned" round air cleaner courtesy of Edelbrock. The three inch exhaust sure sounds cool too. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I'm on the budget plan also, so the intake sounds good.

With the V8 swap, you'll also need the injector harness, flexplate/flywheel, transmission, driveline, and all the parts required to install the V8 in replacement of the V6. Cost is about the same.

Kev: Intake System, modified throttle body, headers, exhaust, and the basic mods (180 t'stat, plugs, cap/rotor, wires, relocate IAT, modify TPS) and you'll notice quite a difference in performance.
