i had one where the Y meets the single pipe (before my cat). a little welding and i felt and heard the difference immediately.

is there any gaskets where the y-pipe connects to the exhaust manifold, or does it just bolt together?

two can do this; one plugs the pipe, the other listens. Best done when everything is cold, engine running and the listener under the truck.
