Hello guys hopefully you'll be able to help. I have a 04 Dakota v6. About a month ago when I turn on the ac it only blows out the front defrost. I get cool air and hot air and my blower settings all work but for some reason I can't get the airflow out of the right vent. I had it in for some other work and the dealer said the repair man said it didn't look like something was opening and closing. If anyone has any idea's well I'm all ears. Thanks.

what "other work" was done by this dealer? they may have disconnected a vacuum hose.

I was having the ball joints replaced....again. I've looked for a loose vacuum hose and can't find one. It was doing this though before I took it in.

so if i'm understanding this right, all vents and settings (defrost, floor, mixed, etc) work but you get nothing to come out the right vent (vent on passenger side facing the passenger)?

Could be a lose conduit. The air travels through a plastic conduit that leads to the vents. The defrost on the passenger side is a differnet conduit than the one going to the vent.

there's also an actuator that runs off vacuum.

I guess I worded it wrong. What I meant was the ac and heat blower works at all settings, the air flow only comes out of the defrost. It doesn't matter what setting I put the ac on the air will only come out of the defrost. Hope that helps. Last night I was looking for the vacuum lines and I believe I found the right ones, they are under the hood on the drivers side under the fuse box. Everything there looked okay. I can't seem to find them on the inside of the truck though.

That does sound like a vaccuum on HVAC control unit problem.

There's 4 vac lines in the cab, all connect to the back of the HVAC control until as a single connection. The vac line will run through the firewall and plug into a connection on the vac system under the hood. There should be only 1 line that runs from the cab into the engine bay. check near at the hoses for the heater core and hoses for the evaporator core.

Also check the actuator, should be 2. one on drivers side and one on passenger side.

I dont know where it is at on my 02, but on my old 95 it came in where the heater core was at. single black vac line. It plugged in behind the TB. The actuators on my old 95 were passenger side kick panel behind door and the one on the driver side was near center, up and a little inside from the gas pedal.

You can take the dash off, pull out the hvac unit just enough to see the back of it and check to see if the hvac line connector is plugged in.
