Hi :) I've got a 99 Sport 3.9L and my power steering went out a couple days ago. Fluid level was ok and the pulley was turning, but I was not getting any power assist. Last night my dad came over and we got the old pump off and discovered that the pulley spindle was sheared off about 3 inches from the inner side of the pulley. How does this kind of thing happen? Is it common?

Thanks :)

Look. A little quiet observation usually reveals how.
If you have a V6, the accessories are mounted on a big bracket.
The pump should be easily removed by undoing a few bolts.

i have everyithing disconencted except for one jose. Im not sure if it is the return??

it's the lower one with 2 nuts one larger than the other connecting it to the actual resavoir. Do i unbolt the larger one or the smaller one....the larger is right against the actual resavoir while the smaller seems to be attached to the hose. 98 dakota sport
