Anyways just bought a 98 SLT. Bone stock...just bought a K n N filter. Just wondering if anyone has dyno numbers for thier mods. My next mod is probably going to be switching to a V8 throttle body. Anyone have any input on that? I hear that i would also have to get an extra cable for it as well. I am pretty good mechanically but im no mechanic...how hard would it be to install myself? Thanks

Most people are happy with the V8 TB(I am), but some say they lose some of their low end grunt. You will need either a V8 throttle cable or the adapter piece to hook into the "slotted" type connector on the TB butterfly valve. If you get a V8 TB, I recommend going to a salvage yard, they are much cheaper, but make sure you get a NON-EGR type (96 and newer). If you worry about loosing your low end, try one of the after market TB's (i.e. Fastman, etc).

If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.

the V8 TB is like the first cheap up grade you can do... i got a 99 and have a polished V8 TB and its touchy from a dead stop i dont feel any lose in the low end torque...

Yes, but for your's make sure you get the EGR type. (95 and earlier). No, it doesn't hurt your fuel economy as long as you keep your foot out of the pedal:) It helps it actually.

If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.

I'm not sure about if you can do it for a 91. On my truck the biggest thing I noticed was the top end was much higher. I don't think I lost any low end, and as far as I can tell my fuel economy didn't change. (But I drove it harder with all the new power ;)

Right now my trucks average mpg says 17.4, and it's accurate to 98.7% of actual, that's babying it with a lot of highway kilometers
