Subject: O/D problem narrowed down

Brief history: O/D would cut out when accelerating on highway. Eventually no O/D and no cruise.

Today: Three wires come out from O/D solenoid (A-blue/orange...B- black (12 volts)... c-orange/black). I shorted A and C together, then to ground. O/D engaged. Still no cruise control.

The solenoids work fine. What's next to check?

I forgot to mention... Someone mentioned to check the MAP and TPS specs. I did. Both work and well within specs.

I never knew how much I missed the O/D until I heard and felt it kick in. I'm less stressed when at 55mph the revs are at 1200 rather than 3000.

check the fuses, the cruse vac pot and all
connections you may have a bad unit also

yes grounding the sols forcing the shift is one
way to tell if its mech or electrical

you should get a haynes manual and look at the
wire harnass and check all

a hole in the dia vac pot for cruse will make it
not work or a rusted stuck cable bad ground be sure there is power going to the unit and all vac
lines are good

You want to hear a real strange one, 88 dakota
speedo going up and down cruse control not working
all from a pluged cat crating a vac problem we
knew the cat was pluged after we chaged it every
thing worked ok these comp controled vehicles can
do the strangest things
