OK so ive been doing my homework...well a little bit... on your build for 1000 on the v6 motor.

Hughes engines
258/266 cam
there springs and retainers with 1.6 rockers
the 9.8 pistons
stage 1 type intake not from them but modded by
me
JBA
19 FMS
cleand and polished head ports milled .020
48mm F&B
V6 performance comp

OK im wandering what year these aps work on because i couldnt find the throttle body to fit..... also i couldnt find a part number for the camshaft and the 9.8 pistons.... also whats a reasonable price i should look for for the milled head ports. And if you could what else would be needed to finish a rebuild with these parts...ill be doing it, likely, on a old engine..... sorry i ask so much but your the celeb on here so ill trust you first!!

this is done 92 3.9 mag

its the first cam listed for the V6 on hughes site
sweet spot 1800 to 5500rpm

the pistons are the same for 3.9 5.2 cast 9.8
with the stock 58cc head

this will work on any 3.9 mag 92 to 03 all the
same a 46 fastman or 48 F&B throttle body
don't use one of the hughes 50mm the intake is
48 and the step creates low end flow probs

you can usr the stock intake just port gasket
match the intake there is a big casting hanging
down right at the gasket flange area sometimes
as much as 1/4" I have seen them so badthe
injector spray actualy hits this

shortening the runners is an option but not
nessasary its designed to give a burst in flow
just of idle shrting them raises this burst
16" arond 12 to 1600 rpm
14" around 1800 2000 rpm
12" 2000 to 2500rpm

the 14" is ideal for this cam but it will run
just fine with just the gasket match if you don't
feel you can shorten them yourself

Well I do my own heads I have a bridgeport mill
and a small engine lath right in the shop
$50 to $100 is reasonable for milling
92 to 99 19 pound injjectors
00 and up 21 pound

the stock comp will also run this cam but a
computer upgrade will help

oh if you shorten the runners and remove the
devider depending on year the later modles
already hade the devider removed will give you
arond 15 extra hp from around 2000rpm on up to
redline

running 1992 dak sport short box reg cab a
customer from AZ no numbers yet I dont like to
dyno until there is at least 2500 miles there
will be about 5000 miles by the time he gets back
up here

he got 16mpg on the first tank 18 on the second
after hitting 2000 miles on his 2200 mile trip
he hit 21mpg this is during break in staying
under 2500 rpm he changed the oil 10 30w castroil
when he gets back it will be changed to royal
purple at about 5000 miles I like to go to syn oil

Says its running very well lots of power on the
highway crusing 85 and getting 21mpg thats dam
good also says it lights the tires up very easy
3.91 sure grip I also installed A500 42RH out
of a 95 with a TCI street strip set up differant
springs on both front and rear servos with the
cusion blockers it shifts very firm will chip
2nd and 3rd if you get on it hard

have some numbers near the end of june

hey Larry how much wheel horsepower and torque would i be looking at if i were to install that cam, the 19 lb. injectors, port&polish&milled heads, gasket matched the manifold along with the shortening of runners, and had all the "bolt ons"(ignition, computer, intake) ??

thanks

you think they're really worth the money

Hughes engines intakes are done very well and
worth the money but I don't recomend using the
50mm as they do

I am running one done just like there stage 2
on my 4.0 stroker bores opened to 50mm with a 50
F&B 10.5 to 1 comp and a lot hotter cam and it
works great over 3000rpm

The cam intake and the perf comp your rear wheel
should be over 200

A stock motor stock cam port match and polish
with all the boltons as in my 95 4X4 stock runner
length at 4500rpm 189 rear wheel 240 torque around
3500rpm

With out the port match and polish 175 thats a 12
hp gain all by itself at the wheels around 15 20
torque gain

If I were to install this cam on this motor I
would expect right around a 30 hp gain that would
put me around 219 and I have thought about doing
it many times

I would run the stage 1 intake and a 48mm F&B
with this cam would be perfict for the cam

The torque on these motors is another story right
around 300 my 4.0 stroker is 322 my 3.58 stroker
267hp is just over 300 this is do to the weight
of the recipricating mass

A stock motor will run around 120 140hp at the
wheels with what your talking about a solid 60
70 hp gain

A stock motor rear wheel torque will peak around
160 180 so a solid 100 or more gain at the wheels

200/280 that would be a very nice running V6 over
a stock 140/180 that would be right in the ball
park especialy with the 4.10 gears

I would recomend the TCI 220500 shift kit and
a new TV valve from transmissionpartsusa.com
and a new 1-2 accumulater from redrider.us
street strip setup with the blocker rod and
the check ball removed just over 1/4 throttle
it would chip 2nd and 3rd but still runnible
in town light throttle

yes hughes cam 258 266 but they do not list adv
duration anymore first V6 cam listed on there
site don't remember at .050

the 12 hp gain is from the gasket match and port
polish this is just removing the few bumps and
casting leavings and polish no actual porting
just a good cleaning of the ports if you port
the V6 and go just a little to far the low end
begains to drop off real fast unless you plan
on some major engine mods the stock heads flow
very well a clean up is all that is needed

The worst part of all is the intake by the flange
I have seen them hang down as much as 1/4" its
bad for flow and should be removed

no diff email address my newnorth address did not
work half the time so I dumped the ISP and went
with peoplepc daksport at peoplepc . com
DON"T ever put your full email on any site they
have robots that collect them and all you
get is spam
