Hi all, first time posting here so bare with me. Recently my ABS and Brake lights have been on, my speedo isnt working either, along with my odometer. From all the posts on here i havae figured out that its most likely my ABS Speed sensor on the rear differential. Just a few days ago, my check engine light started coming on also. Is it possible that the check engine light could be related to the bad sensor? Also, i dont work on cars ever. I know close to nothing about working on them, im in the computer IT industry. Is it very difficult to change the sensor? Everyone on here says its a 10 - 15 minute job...any comments about that?

changing that sensor is very simple.... its only held in by a single bolt... simple little socket set will be enough to help ya get it out... but ya might wanna have the trucks computer scanned to see what codes have been stored... that will hel ya out alot befor you go and just try to replace parts and possible waste money on somethin that wasnt the cause...

There is also a sensor in the tailshaft that can
cause that speedo prob

Abs light can be a number of things
blown brake light fuse
ABS relay fuse
bad sensor in line box by master cyl
the sensor on the rear most call that a distance
sensor if you ask for a speed sensor they will
be lost anyway both sensors are around $12

The ABS is a totaly seperate animal there is a 2
wire plug you jump and the abs break light will
flash codes just like the engine computer

how ever you need the information on what the
codes are the unit on your 96 is located behind
the right kick panel in the cab

FUN FUN FUN I just went threw this on my 95 to
find the prob and get the light out it can also
be reset by disconecting the batt over night
some times you fix the prob but the light stays
on

Its a real PITA

My abs and brake light just came on. Whenever the truck has been sitting the first time i push the brakes the right front tire locks up, and thats just barely touching the brake. After that when i push them it takes more pressure to keep slowing down. Ive checked for leaks and fluid already. Its a 95 v6.

I've got a 1990 v-6 automatic 3.9
It starts but when I push on the brake pedal it dies and also
has the check engine light I've put a new distributor, new plugs
new wires I tried tps map sensor new fuel pump new fuel
pump relay, I put another trotle body, also I've tried blocking
the wheels so I don't have to push on the brakes to put in gear
but it still dies when I try to put it in gear!
I couldn't find a crankshaft position sensor, and I read on line
that this year didn't come with one, any help would be greatly
appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Have you checked for codes? I am leaning towards your
torque converter being stuck in lockup mode but you need to
check the codes first.

How do check for codes?
I know there's a way you can do that by turning the ignition
swicht on and off or something,?but I'm not too familiar with
the process!
Or is there a way to connect a scanner to it?

Turn the key on/off three times and the CEL will start flashing
the codes. Count the flashes. You'll have to pay close attention
to the flashes. The codes are two digit and the light will flash
for the first digit then pause for a second or two then it will
flash the second digit of the code.
