I just bought a Gibson Split Rear exhaust kit for my 1999 3.9l 2wd Reg V6.
Do you guys think this was a good idea?
I paid 425.81 w/shipping "i live in Indiana" from stylin concepts.
Is that a fair price?
Let me know if any of ya have this. What you think?
Does the spare tire need relocation?
Thanks guys fr your in put.

I got my split cat back done for 400 with stainless steel tubes and stainless tips with a flowmaster 40, and I thought it was a great price. I would rather have someone build my exhaust and bend it at there shop becasue if the pipe needs to be bent a little they can do it right there. If you are more of a do it yourselfer than this will be a fun project. Have fun with your kit and I hope you get the sound and performance your looking for.

It's cheaper on ebay. I got my flowmaster 40 series exhaust, materials + labor = $300 total. It was done by Tony's exhaust in Glen Burnie Maryland, it also helps to know the owner.

I just put on my Magnaflo Cat back system 2 weeks ago on my '99 3.9. I have a stnd cab long bed. Try finding a stainless cat back system for that. Aparently no one makes such a monster. I called magnaflow and talked to one of their many incompetants that they have working for them. I asked if the extended cab short bed would fit and he told me no! Very rudely may I add. I purchased it anyway from www.hottexhaust.com for $410.33 with free 3 day UPS shipping. I had the old cut out and the new in in less than 30 minutes. No alterations. Truck sound great. My original Flowmaster aluminized kit rotted out and took the factory cat with it in less than 2 years.

Maybe I have bad luck?

It just seems no mateer what i buy i mess it up some how.

I pay to much or?

I am just dumb?

I paid 100 bucks for the exhaust I was talkin about to be installed. Is that a lot?

My truck has been bumped pretty good twice before

And hit hard as heck one time.

(he didnt know about this)

So the installer guy had to modify this kit quite a bit.

And my tips in the back are at difference distances off the bumper?

By Like 1/2".

A noticeable amount to someone who just drop $525.81 so for to have crooked exhaust?

He said the pipes were mandrel bent and he had a different squre corner type bender.

So if he bent my mandrel pipes they wouldn't work, that is why he thinks they are not even or something like that?

Oh well.

I think it sounds good it is more than I persoanly expected.

It rumbles in the cab at the right throttle amount.

But I was not excpecting a big block V8 to come out of an old 99 3.9L V6'er.

If I get a high flow cat he thinks it would sound better and he said hed weld it up for like 30 bucks. Is that a good price??

Well its my life and I like my black Dodge no matter how much it cost me. I mean geez look at the price of gas?

The high flow cat will make the sound deeper but
the noise increase is not noticeable almost the
same

with labor rates at $100 plus per hour I would
say you got a good deal

he could have bent the pipe it would not effect
the flow enough to change anything I often
wonder where they find these people who work
in some of these places, sometimes I call places
and the people I talk with have not even the
slightest clue what I am talking about LOL

Hey thanks Larry.
It is an honor to have ya reply to my post.

I think I will try to get the high flow cat.
About how much you think one for my 99 reg cab 2wd 3.9l would cost?
If it makes it sound deeper that would be better than not sounding deeper? Right?

It is also good to know I atleast got a decent price on my installation charges.

Thanks all,
Chris
