new battery new alternator new ignition switch cables r good and all fuse links r good ,getting fire out of battery 2 start and power from alternator but not charging battery ,its like alternator not even on truck,88 dodge,dakota 2wheel drive,3.9 6 cyl.its driving me crazy wiring is ok,sum1 please help

Does your truck have a regulator on it or is it controled by the computer. Also, Just because you bought an alternator is no guarentee it works. It does happen time to time. Check all your grounds. They cause more electrical problems then all the rest put together. Is your guage working? Have you verified it isn't charging with a portable manual guage?

Just had a similar problem. Tried two new alternators. Main fuse.
