I have a 89 dakota with the 3.9 standard motor which needs to be replace. I have found a 3.9 magnum motor out of an 93 dakota complete with wire harness and all just wondering if it'll fit and what changes will have to be made?

it,s not just a simple swap like i said on your general topic post you,ll need flexplate, crank sensor, drill bellhousing for crank sensor, wiring issues at firewall 50 pin connection etc

the motor will bolt up to trans and fit the truck with no problems

you could have the heads drilled and tapped on the 93 3.9 to except the 89 3.9 TBI intake, this will solve all the issues with wiring, crank sensor and drilling the bellhousing etc and then you can just install motor, now you have a mag motor with a tbi

if your not to far away i have a 89 3.9 in a dak i would sell,I,m in Maine

Is there a way to make the 88 3.9 work in the 94 3.9 truck without the wiring from the 88 truck? Can I buy a intake and carb and distributor ?

yes,use the heads, intake,tb,lifters and push rods and dist from the 94 3.9 on the 88 3.9,you,ll have to build a crank sensor bracket to mount the crank sensor because the 88 block does,nt have the mounting holes

sorry i don,t

but with both motors out you can compare where the sensor needs to be and build your bracket,
it,s not that hard

if you lived close to Maine i have a 93 3.9 i,d sell, still in truck so you could hear it run

good luck

I am in the process of performing the swap this weekend of a 92 magnum motor into a 91 dakota. I was not aware of any wiring issues with the 50 pin connector.I have removed the computer and harness from the 92 to install into the 91. Would you have any details on the differences and things to watch out for. Thanks,
