So it's basically impossible to get our v6's into 15 sec in the 1/4 with out dropping some serious $ huh? My buddy just got a 2005 Honda Civic SI and I heard they run about 15.5 in the quarter and our is like 17.5 or something like that? Also my other friend got himself a 2001 mustang but it's only a V6 and I think they're at 16.5 in the 1/4. I know I really shouldn't worry about it but how much work is needed for my all mighty 3.9 to get to those times? It'd be way too fun to see my 4x4 take on their cars...or at least be close.

Just get your weight down to that of a Honda Civic and you should be able to kick some arse.

Other than that, unless you can do lots of work, lots of work costs lots of money.

Eh figures..getting into those times is gonna take some internal work huh? Head work, cam, some rockers...? Which would be better a new cam or some 1.7 rockers? I think my next project is gonna be an underdrive pulley and an electric fan. Any other ideas? I already have a new muffler, CAI, MSD SS coil, Taylor 8 mm wires, and V8 TB. Pretty much the easiest things I could do.

low end

my 94 sport 2 wheel with a 4.0 stroker 309/322
at the wheels ran 13.9 1/4 union grove sanctioned
race track

my 3.58 stroker at 267/300 ran a 14.4 @97

my stock 95 with all the boltons just for fun
tried it one day and it ran a 15.8 this truck
has 189 rwhp

Hey thanks for the advice...I'll just forget about the pulleys then cuz most of my driving will be around town. The closest drag that I know of right now is in Jacksonville. Yea I have a lot of weight along with the fact that I have a lifted 4x4 with 32X11.5 tires so I know it's not supposed to be fast but still fun to beat my buddies in. That and I can't just let them rip on my trusty Dak. Think a superchips would help me out with some of the things I've already done?

Get ahold of John Mercades at socaldakota.com
I beleave is his site

Get a set of harland 1.7 rockers just bolt them
in no adjusting or valve cover mods needed and
you will gain 15 to 18hp at the wheels

Just go to TDC on the damper comp stroke now
rotate and you will see a V6 V6 mark with a
line set there and bolt them in wait 10 min
for the lifters to bleed by the time you get
the covers on start it may miss a little give
it time and they will self adjust

A very easy bolt in mod and john has them for
right around $300

Yes the superchips will help 98 and up

Well $800 later my truck should be here in 2 weeks. Is that all you've done to your truck? I plan on doing the electric fan definately but after reading J&J's post about the underdrive I dont think I'll do that. Did you just do the Crank pulley? That's what I was gonna go with but if it's gonna give me problems it's $50 I saved. How's your fan workin for you? Right now I have a CGS CAI, MSD Coil, Taylor 8mm wires, New Cap and Rotor V8 TB, and a flowmaster super 40 exhaust. I dont know what I'm running right now but I'm guessing I'm up in the 17's with my set up. 4x4's aren't supposed to be fast but I want my cake and eat it too!

Adam, i've been running a crank pulley on my truck for about 2 yrs now and have had no charging or any other issues with it. alt charges fine even@ idle. a/c blows ice cold @ idle. it works just like the stock. i did notice the engine seemed to rev a little quicker since i installed it.

Ok that's good to hear. I've heard problems with the alt. pulley but wasn't sure about the underdrive. So I might still be looking into that. Right now I want way more than I have. Next few projects are going to be , Electric Fan, 1.7 RR's , gears, and crank pulley (maybe)
Got a question for anyone... if I find some 1.7 rr's for a 5.2 on ebay will they fit on the 3.9 or are they different?

I see that socaldakota only has crower rockers. Where do you find the harland sharp 1:7 rockers?

Didn't find the Harlands. I thought I found them once before but not sure where. You can find them for the V8's though.

John Mercades from socaldakota sells the Harlan sharp 1.7 rr's. I think he's based out of Florida. I tried the socaldakota website and they do only sell crower's. Your best bet is to ask around or ask J&J. He seems to know a wee bit around here. There also about 300 bucks. Good luck huntin!
