I hear the whole homebrew cold air thing going around on this this, but how in the world do you make one? And whats the gain. I got a 93 3.9 5spd. I could use some more mods to. Any good ideas?

if your intake set up is the same as 94
you dont have too,
look where your cold air tube connects up near the rad. if you have the plastic block off plate out there, remove it
and drop a K&N or something similar in

well then why do you want to make one???
you already have true cold air induction,
either making one or spending $200-300 on one will do nothing,

why spend the money to make or buy an afterthermarket one?
illl tell you, its because stock intake is very thin plastic tubning, and although entering cold by the time it hits the throttle bodie it will be hot. the thin plastic disperses almost no heat.
where as an aluminum tube, or aluminized steel tube will disperse the heat, so the air entering will not be affected be heat from the block or headers

Everytime I open up my 1992 dakota for more air, I get oil leaks. First I took off the plastic flap in the front, behind the grill. Then I dropped in a K&N filter and flipped the air filter cover (provides 3/4 inch gap all the way around the filter. After each mod, I got oil leaking from under the motor. When I reversed the mods, no more oil leaks.

Any clues???

i'll bet a dyno would show nothing
i see your point, and maybe when sitting
but moving? na, the air is going way to fast through their to heat up
not to mention some of the aftermarket set ups i've seen are grabbing the air partialy from within the engine compartment

imaginge how much more the everyday enthusiast would know about his vehicle if dyno's grew on trees. lets change this forum to how to build a dyno. haha

dont know on the costs of an auto dyno

however i do on the bikes,
just rebuilt my engine (harley)
over the winter now will be adding a bigger cam
(also whole new charging system)
performance coil & megafire adjustable
ignition module, i took the compression to just over 10;1 should be around 10.4

so anyway i'll be getting that dynoed
end of spring, early summer, and the cost of this
$110. for 3 runs, i aint letting them do any adjustments, if i dont like what i see i do it myself..

ok so i'm curious whats the cost of a dyno for a PU or car guys ???
