 Subject: transmission problems

I have an 89 dakota 4x4 with v-6 and the converter wants to lock-up while setting and idling so much that it kills the motor,what do i need to do? what operates the lock up converter?

Locate the problem
drivers side by shifting lever unplug elect
connector if this fixs the prob its a short or
elect prob
If not sol or tcc change valve in valve body
