Subject: Brake light socket??
IP: Logged

Message:
My passenger tailight doesn't light up when I turn my lights on. It only turns on when I hit the brakes or use the turn signal. I melted a bulb in the socket a while ago because it was a defected bulb. Could that be causing it? Should I just replace the socket. If so where could I get one at. Does autozone or discount auto parts sell them. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the parking light filament of the (dual filament) bulb is open. Check the bulb and if the socket is melted replace it. Auto Zone may have a replacement in their "help" section. Otherwise...junk yards and body shops a good places to find spare wiring harnesses.

Well I went to autozone and he said it had corrosion on it and I got it all off and still does it. I got bulb lubricant. The bulb is fine because I switched it with my other bulb and it did the same thing. Switched sockets with the other side and it still does it. The other socket works fine. I just think I am going to call dodge tomorrow. Hope its not a lot of money.

Check to see if you have power there when just the running lights are on. If there is no power there you have a problem further up the line.
