Subject: better gas mileage

Message:

I need better gas mileage

would a pcv valve not working right effect gas?

what is best way to improve gas economy?

I ran the the tank dry after 10 gals

12.5 +- 1 mpg per gal all I could get

when it ran outta gas you would think the engine was toasted after the noise you hear

sounded like a diesel

Happy Holidays to all

wow only 12 mpg! i'm getting close to 25, you might check the air filter,O2 sensor, air pressure in tires, clogged exhaust, etc.

the most important thimgs to better mileage.
1) make sure the vehicle is in the best possible state of tune.(i.e. plugs, wires, filters, sensors)
2) proper tire inflation and alignment
3) take the lead out of your foot.
4) use synthetic fluids wherever possible.

get no less than a Haynes manual(best 20 bucks you can spend on your dak) or go all out and find a Factory Service Manual. you won't regret either of these books.

is it just throwing the code or is it running rough? the cps is not that hard to change. i can get mine out in about 5 minutes. it may be a little more difficult if you have an auto trans.

yeah I have auto 3.6 2wd

the truck doesn't run rough at all
the CPS sensor code still looms
and with it that annoying engine light
the gas station light is bad enough

Things change over the years from engine to engine
what helped last year or 2 years ago may not help on a newer engine.

and the way i have my dak setup will cost you $ to find out.

do a search and you will find lots of info on how to obtain at least a little better gas milage for free.

nobody ever gave me free info on this stuff and how to make it all work right, so if you really want to know fork out the cash.

if we wanted to pay for info we would not be here. and then again why dont you pay for a membership to this site?

In the true spirit of Christmas (uh, I mean, "The Holidays") I think we should all contribute something to the "Let's Buy indydak A Friend" Fund (I fear it's going to take an awful lot of money though).

I think you guys are being too hard on indydak. I mean, he's already given you immensely valuable veteran advice like "...you might check the air filter,O2 sensor, air pressure in tires, clogged exhaust, etc.) Man I never would have thought of those things, and it's not like that kind of sage advice is just floating around out there on the web, and certainly not on this board. This guy could just be a veritable fountain of priceless info - he quite obviously knows things that only a man of vast experience (and secrecy) could know.
Hey indydak, if I paypal you a dollar will you tell me if I should use Amsoil or not?

Tonneau cover

Dynomax muffler low restriction
Electric fan and remove the stock fan.
A real light foot on the throttle, keep under 2000 rpm if possble.
