Does anyone have a walkthru on how to replace a thermostat in a 91 3.9L Dakota? I have worked on vehicles before just not the thermostat so idk where to begin.

Find the big hose that goes into your engine remove it and pull out your T-Stat. Dunno the setup on the older vehicles but mines between the alt. and a/c.

First, drain a gallon or 2 of coolant from the radiator drain cock. Then squeeze the top hose.
The top radiator hose goes to the engine.
At the engine is a metal neck with 2 bolts.
Remove the 2 bolts. You will get some coolant out.
Move the neck/hose out of the way, and the tstat will be on the engine.
Remove tstat and the old gasket. You might want to put a paper towel in the hole to prevent stuff from falling in.
Scrap away all the old gasket.
Install tstat. There is pressed-in writing on the new tstat to tell you how to place it in the hole.
(in case you forgot how it came out)
Install NEW gasket.
etc.

Not like you are about to do what I did,
but just in case the thought comes up, I
would read the direction on how long to
wait after the tstat has been installed.
that way the 'gasket sealer' seals and
you do not get a small leak going throu
the suppose-to-be gasket. I messed up and
drove about an hour after I put mine in.
I don't think I waited long enough for the
stuff to harden.
Just trying to help ya out, Peace!
