I am thinking about getting a set of Richmond 4.10's for my truck. The 3.55's are just way too d@mn high. When you take it easy on the gas, if you ever do, do you still get decent MPG on the highway? Since I live in England, the speed limit (or minimum if you are in front of a crazed Brit) is 70, so I run between 70 and 80 all the time. Want at least 16mpg.

i don't have the 4.10s yet... maybe REAL soon though... been selling stuff to get moneys. I think that Richmond makes only for the 96 and earlier Daks because the website shows only 27 spline axles (xx-96) but we have 29 spline. i think that's what it is... check out motive gear. they have them for our axles and cost a little less

Intense, axle splines shouldnt matter for the ring and pinion, they dont touch the axles.

The carrier where the open or limited slip part does matter though.

I'll be 4.10ing it in about a week!! cant wait.

Grrrr, catalog didn't say anything about splines so I went to the site and sure enough the one I am looking at is for 27 spline. Didn't realize there was a difference. Is motive gear any good. When I emailed Randy's R&P they said they had the gears for the 8.25" but didn't specify spline #'s. Not sure what brand they quoted me either.

What is a fair labour cost or at least how many labour hours for installing the gears and a sure grip. These British people like to stick it to Americans. I don't want to get screwed too bad.

the guy here in texas is going to do it for $200. that's what he charges for any kind of diff work. i wish i could do it because i have done everything else to my truck... but lack the precision and tools to do that job and the extra $ to fix it when i don't get it right the first time

You guys should be able to get yolks for any spline pinions out ther?

When I put the 4.10's in my Chally I had to get a corse spline yolk because the stock was fine and Rickmond gears are corse.

You may even just be able to use a yolk from an earlier model.

So, your saying I could just swap something out of my diff from an earlier one and go with the 27 spline Richmond gears? $200 sounds alright. Does that include gears and sure grip?

wouldn't 4.10s decrease your top end power while increasing your low end? also won't they make your ride more jerky?? I have 3.92s and my truck leaps off the line and then dies from 30-60. It jerks you back when it shifts but thats about all it can do. but thats just me and my truck is real heavy being a 4x4 and all.
btw if this sounds stupid at all just ignore it because I'm tired and I'm not really sure what I'm typing ;-)

it doesn't really decrease your top end. it just causes you to run higher rpms at higher speeds. it does help out the launch a lot but not top end. i have nitrous to cure any top end problems ;)

LI Blackdak,
have you relocated your IAT or adjusted your TPS or your TV cable... just some (almost) free mods. and you will notice a difference... the most probably from the IAT.

cbs, I cant say for sure that a yolk form an earlier Dak would work (never tried it myself) but knowing how Mopar does things I'll bet its safe to say you could swap your 29 splined for 27 to go with your gears, I mean an 8 1/4 is an 8 1/4, you know?

Write Mopar Performance, they may be able to tell you like asap.

Good luck, Scott
