1996 and up would work for you. Your truck is non-egr. The only thing you need is a new gasket and either a V8 throttle cable($35) or an adapter for the throttle connection (the V8 is a ball type)

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Kent Imhoff,
You can actually grind down the disc type connection on the v8 throttle body you need with a dremel till the the ball connection on the throttle cable fits. If you get one you will see what I'm talking about. That what you can use your existing v6 throttle cable.

92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Kent, I have just what you need. I had the v8 TB on my 2000 Dakota but went back to the stock v6. I also have the throttle cable to go with it.
The TB has all the sensors also, if you need them. Make me an offer, and e-mail me if you like. E-mail dougpt@telus.net.

I found too much of a low end loss with the V8 TB and am using the truck for pulling so I need more bottom end. If you are running your truck in the higher RPM's it seems to have more go but that is just not what I am after. I will be changing the rear gears to 3.9's this spring so that will help also. I presently have 3:55 now.

How about 4.10 gears and have your tb bored to 47 or 48mm.

You could also port and polish your intake and/or reduce some of the internal area of it as well. Did that to mine and I regained my "lost" low end from the V8 TB. It gives you good grunt up until the 2100RPM range, and then it surges(best way to describe it would be to compare it to ram air or turbo)and pushes you back into the seat until about 4500 or so(I'm afraid to take it higher). When I am not suffering from the lead foot disease, I get between 19-21 in the city and 24-26 highway.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

I had the intake off and port matched it to gasket size and also port matched the head as well. I removed the casting flash from around the injector bosses also and that seemed to make it idle a bit smoother. Didn't really see any big HP gains though. I am interested in how you reduced the runner area. I can see if you have smaller runners, the velocity will increase allowing more torque, but shortening the runners would not help on the bottom end so how did you do it cuzindoug?
