My father-in-law has an 88 2wd, 3.9, auto.
It starts fine. Put it in drive and drive away slowly it seems ok. Try to give it some throttle, and starts to die unless you let off. Forget about flooring it, it just quits.
I changed the fuel filter, cap, rotor, wires. Plugs look nearly new.
I disconnected the O2 sensor, made no difference.
Can't find any vaccuum leaks.
Running out of ideas.
I tried to search, but without paying...
I may join if we get it running and keep it.

I am begining to think it's the fuel pump. I disconnected the fuel line at the tb expecting fuel to spurt out and got nothing.
I checked the timing as per the Haynes manual, and it won't stay at 10 degrees btc, it jumps higher then back to about 10.
The timing is probably unrelated, but I figured why not check it.
