 Subject: new O2 and trouble

dam had this truck since feb of 2000
and not once did the check engine light ever
come on, 2 days ago put a new O2 sensor
truck is running much better the pinging was gone for a day, now i have a slight pinging back
and now when i get on the interstate
within 10 miles the check engine light comes on
and stays on till i get home
shut it off and restart
any ideas?

First of all, what year and what mileage on the truck? The emissions controls are warranteed for 5 years/50K miles, except catcon, which is 8 years/80K miles.
What was the fault code associated with the Check Engine light? What made you think the O2 was and still is at fault?
Bad O2 sensors are not typically associated with pinging at all.

never tripped anylight or codes prior to now
and replaced the O2 cause sitting now with 119,000 miles and last changed was 64,000
and i tried getting any code or codes no luck
and i know about auto zone doing it for free
but i cant stand the place, I'll try advanced auto parts, all i'm trying to figure out is why and what the hell
i know the old was was worn if not shot
mileage and response is way up
trucks a 94 3.9
